A fairytale like winter wonderland, combined with a thick layer of ice and steep rock faces. Winterhiking at the Oeschinensee impresses with all elements that winter offers.
Description
After a short and cozy ride with the gondola Oeschinen you reach the top station of the cable car. From this point, follow the indicated hiking path towards the lake Oeschinensee in the direction of «Läger». After about 45 minutes, you will reach the frozen beauty, nestled into a impressive mountain range.
The 1.5 square kilometres wide glacier lake with its impressive ice surface offers two additional loops with the UNESCO Ice Walk for a very special winterhike – on pure ice! Thanks to a thin layer of snow, you wont loose your grip. Also, you can admire the UNESCO World Heritage site Jungfrau-Aletsch from up-close.
The way back takes winterhikers just over 30 minutes on a direct path to the top station of the gondola. As there is only one path leading directly from the lake down to Kandersteg, the path is closed for hikers and sledges.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
