This lofty sport route is primarily ideal for nature lovers, offering stunning views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding peaks.
Description
Leysin basks on the southern flank of the Tour d'Aï, on a broad terrace above Aigle. There are splendid views from here of the Rhone Plain, Mont Blanc, the Dents du Midi and Les Diablerets. Prepare yourself for a spectacular snow shoe trail, with lots of stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the Chablais plain.
This snowshoe trail starts at the Chamois quarry, where it branches off to the right. Then comes quite a strenuous climb through forests and across meadowland and clearings to reach the Solacyre Alpine Hut, where you can take a break and gaze at another spectacular view.
The first part of the descent follows the same path then forks off to the right into an intact, unspoilt forest. The finale of this trail is the Prafandaz plateau where you can enjoy stunning views of Lake Geneva before returning to the start. The mountain restaurants will also have something to delight all food lovers.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
