Parcours des Breuleux
Overview
Intro
The pastured woodland of Les Breuleux is one of the most beautiful sites in the Franches-Montagnes. Crossing this vast landscape is just like immersing yourself in another world covered in endless pine trees that are well enough spread out for a snowshoe excursion.
Description
From Les Breuleux railway station, you must first cross a small section of the village heading south. The edge of the forest marks the gateway into the pastured woodland. The archetypal Jurassic landscape that sprawls across the Franches-Montagnes plateau is home to a great deal of biodiversity. Dark pine forests often alternate with many clearings and pastures like a mosaic. The walk is particularly beautiful after it has just snowed and the snow on the pine trees is glistening in the sun.
The trail then ascends gently towards Les Breuleux ski lift. If the facilities are open, a cosy snack bar awaits you. At the 1,099 metre mark, you will already have reach the highest point on this route. Here you will find the wind farm that stretches from Mont Soleil to Mont du Crosin. With a total of 16 turbines, this wind and solar farm is one of the biggest in Switzerland.
Les Breuleux’s pasturelands have their own microclimate, meaning it often gets more snow than anywhere else at the same altitude. Slightly hillier, the return trip to the village of Les Breuleux passes by the hamlet of Les Ravières is once again adorned with pine trees.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
