Schwemmiweg
Overview
Intro
Winter hike starting at the idyllic alpine settlement of Steg. The natural sceneries all around can best be enjoyed on the Schwemmiweg. The trail leads past the reservoir and through the forest to Alp Sücka.
Description
The approximately two-hour circular trail is especially popular with families. It first leads along the Steg reservoir, which is fed by the Valüner and Malbun streams. At the Gänglesee lake, the trail branches off into the winter forest and climbs gently uphill to Alp Sücka.
The Sücka mountain inn has a long tradition: it was originally built as a climatic spa. From 1870 onwards, whey baths were offered on the Kuhalp in the Liechtenstein mountain region. Alp Sücka was thus one of the first stops for tourists in Liechtenstein. Today, the restaurant is famous for its Sücka fondue which is prepared with cheese from the neighbouring alpine pastures.
From Alp Sücka, you can get back to Steg by walking down the hiking path. Or even better: you can whizz down the valley yourself on a sledge to be rented on site.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
