Overview
Intro
Step by step from alp to alp, exploring the flora and fauna around Torgon: This hike leads through a varied landscape up to Conches and captivates with views over lake Geneva and towards the Mont Blanc. Another highlight awaits you at the end: the suspension bridge over the Avançon river.
Description
Torgon is situated at an altitude of just over 1000 metres in the Chablais region of the Valais. The village enjoys a fantastic panoramic location with splendid views of the Rhone valley. On this circular hike from alp to alp, you explore varied natural landscapes with a diverse flora and fauna. With a bit of luck, you may even spot a mouflon on the way, the region's emblematic wild sheep.
From the Place de la Jorette in Torgon, the route climbs up towards Alp Eusin, which specialises in the production of goat's cheese. The trail continues towards Croix and to Alp Chétillon. After a short downhill stretch, the ascent to Conches, the highest point of the tour, begins. At the top, the effort is rewarded with a real feast for the eyes: a magnificent view of lake Geneva opens up, the alpine backdrop is formed by the Valais and Vaud alps, the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc.
The next highlight of the tour awaits you at Torgon: the 150-metre-long suspension bridge. At a height of 28 metres, it spans the Avançon river. If you don't suffer from vertigo, you can stop in the middle and enjoy the magnificent view down into the valley, surrounded by larches and other large conifers. After crossing the bridge, only a few steps to the final destination remain.
