Intro
A lovely winter hike in the Alta Leventina from Nante to Alpe Nuova. As the hike is mostly in the forest except for a few clearings, the tour is very sheltered from the wind.
Description
This pleasant circular tour starts out in the hamlet of Nante, between the valleys of Bedretto and Leventina. The trail described here leads into the latter. The path leaves the village just above the bottom of the valley.
After a short stretch in a clearing, it dips into the forest. Due to the fact that you walk in the forest practically the whole way, this route is quite sheltered from the wind. The ascent is very gentle and steady. Before Segna, past the small lake and up to the Alpe Nuova, the path is practically even.
Those who want to extend their excursion from here can either continue up as far as Ravina and relax in the mountain chalet of the same name. A detour to the village of Giof is also possible. Either way, you return to Nante via Montagna.
