Sentiero Valle Verzasca
Overview
Intro
This route, which follows an easily accessible level footpath, invites you to discover the Valle Verzasca at a time of year when it is least crowded. Walking along the river, among typical stone cottages («rustici»), you will enjoy the peace and quiet of one of Ticino’s most beautiful landscapes.
Description
The route runs on the bottom of the upper part of the valley, past the famous two arch bridge of Lavertezzo. At a short distance from the road, the flowing waters of the river Verzasca create a truly revitalizing and unique atmosphere. The green waters lend colour to the peaceful snow-covered landscape.
"Prossima fermata: Sonogno", sounds the postbus voice. From the bus stop, the winter hiking trail follows the famous wild river Verzasca downstream, through groups of trees and over open snow-covered sections. At the level of Frasco, you make a 180° turn and hike back more or less along the same path. The bare trees let the warm sun light filter through, inviting you to linger for a while along the way.
The second segment of the route departing from Sonogno enters into the Valle Redorta. The path runs near the stream of the same name and past pretty old stone houses before gently climbing up to Froda. On the same way back, you have another opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity of the wild upper Verzasca valley before the excursion ends at the familiar bus stop in Sonogno.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
