St.-Gotthard-fünf-Pässe-Bike
Overview
Intro
First: from Andermatt through the smallest village in Switzerland to Realp. Afterwards: an exciting trail that starts on the Furka Pass. There is a short climb at the start, then a longer crossing, and then a descent full of stunning views across the Goms. Plenty of flow, technical sections and short stretches where you have to push: on this trail for experienced mountain bikers, the focus is on downhill fun.
Description
After the start at Andermatt train station, the tour leads along the Furkareuss valley floor. Past Hospen Valley comes Zumdorf, officially the “smallest village in Switzerland”. There is just a chapel, a restaurant and two holiday homes between the steep rock faces. The route continues relatively flat towards Realp at the foot of the Furka Pass.
The postbus takes you conveniently to the start of the descent on the pass. An advance reservation for bike transport is recommended. The trail begins at the top of the pass and starts with an easy climb on a military road to down below the Mutt glacier, and you cross its meltwater streams by bike. This is followed by a very attractive, sometimes fairly technical, but not too demanding crossing along the Hirschplatte, until the path turns southwest above Rossji.
The point before the start of the descent is an ideal place to rest, with a stunning view across the entire Goms. The subsequent valley descent is initially technically easy until you cross towards Firbäch at Bidmer - another attractive viewing point. Then it becomes steep but still flows, until you finally reach Gand via some more technical sections. After a short while, the last single trail section turns onto the forest road towards Hungerberg. It includes short, steep passages where you have to push your mountain bike at times. You can enjoy the view one last time at the old ski lift. You then head towards Unner Äbnet, to the forest road that leads to Oberwald.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
