Trachslau-Loipe
Overview
Intro
The Trachslau cross-country ski track is a circuit for connoisseurs. A footpath leads from Einsiedeln station along the river to the start and finish area. The sunny and mostly flat route leads past farms, the Au convent and the Alp stream.
Description
This sunny track is mostly flat and ideal for beginners. It starts at the Grotzenmühle, where skiers can purchase a day pass, hire equipment or take cross-country skiing courses.
After just a short time, the route passes the Benedictine convent of Au on the edge of a forest, founded in around 1400. It continues over meadows and fields to the small village of Trachslau, south-west of Einsiedeln. Those who can't face the final loop beyond Trachslau and past farms and forests can take a shortcut here and leave it out. From here, the track descends on a slight slope back to the monastery village, accompanied by the Alp stream.
A shorter variant of the route – the Bolzli Adventure Trail – is a fun way for children and families to discover cross-country skiing. Bolzli the Bunny, a keen cross-country skier, can be seen on 9 signposts along the 2km trail from the Grotzenmühle to the Au convent and back.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
