Trans Swiss Trail
Overview
Intro
Typical Emmental landscape starting above Worb: long rolling hills and steep gullies. Fantastic views of the Alps and Jura. The Gotthelf-Stube, a tiny museum on Swiss author Jeremias Gotthelf is found in the old part of Lützelflüh.
Description
Worb's landmark is its castle, first mentioned around 1130, which was rebuilt after a fire in 1535. It is privately owned and is situated above the village. From the railway station it takes a little more than an hour to walk via Eggwald to Rüttihubelbad. People discover themselves in a variety of ways in the Sensorium: Sounds, colours, vibrations, scents, light and darkness - here everything revolves around sensual perception.
The trail continues towards Lüüseberg, and along the way it is always worth taking a look back at the beautiful alpine panorama. After a little more than an hour, you reach Aetzrüti. You hike across more small hills, short forest sections and beautiful fields and meadows that blend harmoniously into the landscape. After a good four hours, you arrive at Schafhausen in the valley of Emmental. Together with Biembach and Goldbach, the village is part of the municipality of Hasle bei Burgdorf. The four hazel bush leaves in the coat of arms symbolise the affiliation.
Passing secluded and traditionally built family homes, the last 45 minutes take you to Lützelflüh-Goldbach. This pretty village is located between Langnau and Burgdorf and is best known as the Gotthelf village. The pastor and poet Albert Bitzius, better known as Jeremias Gotthelf, worked here from 1832 until his death in 1854.
