Vallée du Doubs Bike
Overview
Intro
This route between the Franches-Montagnes and the Doubs Valley features varying landscapes between the mountains and the river as well as places of interest that took nature centuries to shape.
Description
Starting from the village of Montfaucon, you can see the Vosges to the north and the peaks of the Bernese Alps to the south. The route then crosses a succession of pastures and cultivated fields, sometimes on the road, sometimes on a path or directly across a cattle pasture.
The descent to the banks of the Doubs is technical, and the landscape changes completely. The section along the river consists of easy paths. It leads through the hamlet of Lobchez and then across a footbridge, allowing you to rest and refuel at Clairbief.
Back on the trail, numerous small beaches invite you to take a dip or a relaxing break. Before returning to the Franches-Montagnes plateau, you can take a short detour and leave the bike to climb the Rocher du Singe.
Finally, the route climbs up to the Franches-Montagnes again. The views extend over a mosaic of multicoloured fields, sparse forests and green pastures. On forest paths, you pass through the small village of Les Enfers before the route ends back at the starting point.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
