Intro

This winter hike leads from the Arvenbüel through magical winter landscapes to the Vorder Höhi. It always offers impressive panoramic views: over the Toggenburg, the Alpstein, the Churfirsten and the Leistkamm.

Description

The trail begins in the village of Arvenbühl and first goes up through the Heiggenwald to the Alp Altschen. From there, it runs through the snowy alpine landscape to the Vorder Höhi pass. This transition to Toggenburg briefly gained importance in the 1970s, when the access road from Weesen to Amden was at risk of a possible rockfall and had to be blocked. The military built an emergency road within a very short time, which today is only used by hikers and cyclists.

From the Vorder Höhi you can gaze over the Toggenburg to the Alpstein and the Churfirsten. The eponymous alpine business invites hikers for a coffee or snack. On the way back, the prominent Leistkamm dominates the panorama.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
