The Obersaxen Walser Trail combines a fascinating landscape with the cultural history of the Walser people and the exciting and diverse natural setting of the Graubünden mountains.
Description
Discover a piece of cultural history as you trek along the Obersaxen Walser Trail and experience nature close-up. Some of the 20 and more information boards that explore these themes will accompany you along the nature trail from Giraniga up to the Sassli BBQ area. The trail continues along the 44.5 m suspension bridge across the Schlettertobel. Crossing the Tobel, at a height of some 16 m above the river bed, will certainly be a test of courage for some!
After a short ascent savour the unique panoramic vista that awaits you at the new Plàmpoort BBQ area (1676 m above sea level), the perfect spot to rest up and recoup. The descent to Miraniga is a pleasant walk with views of the many different valleys of the Surselva down to Chur and, in the opposite direction, as far as Disentis.
The educational trail reflects the direct interactions that exist between people, nature and the landscape through a wide range of themes such as the fauna, plants, fungi, medicinal herbs, flowers, geology and of course the lives of the Walser people, then and now.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
