Salenstein: Castle hike to Arenenberg with its unique gardens

Arenenberg Castle majestically overlooks Lake Constance. If you let your gaze wander into the distance, you’ll be rewarded with some amazing views. This was recognised by Napoleon III, who spent his childhood here.

Today, the castle with its Napoleon Museum, extensive nature park and stunning views is one of the most beautiful around Lake Constance. A visit to the gardens offers a chance to explore the gardening trends of the past 600 years. Starting from the See & Park Hotel Feldbach in Steckborn, the Arenenberg is an easy two-hour hike away via the 19th stage of the Thurgau circular hiking trail.

Klettgau: Cycle through the Chläggi

The Chläggi Route is a leisurely bike tour that offers culinary, cultural and scenic delights. As you pass through rural Klettgau, you’ll quickly fall in love with the golden vineyards and charming winegrowing villages such as Hallau and Osterfingen.

So there’s time to enjoy a glass of fine wine in a cosy wine cellar, the six-hour bike tour is best split over two days. A sporty and rewarding visit to the Schaffhausen Regional Nature Park.

Schaffhausen Pinot Noir Region: a love of Pinot Noir

The art of enjoyment is a top priority in the most northern part of Switzerland. Hallau is perhaps the most famous winegrowing village in this region. Find out more about the history of winegrowing at the Weinkrone or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the vineyards. The day ends with a wine tasting hosted by a winegrower from Schaffhausen’s Pinot Noir region.
