Intro

Hop off, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and set out: hiking is that easy in Switzerland. With train, bus, boat and mountain railway links, you can conveniently reach the starting point of your hike – regardless of whether you are in the National Park in Graubünden or at the top of the San Salvatore.

At the most southern point of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland

With the funicular railway from Lugano-Paradiso, hikers can reach San Salvatore, the starting point of the hike, in just 12 minutes. From here, the hike takes you to lofty heights, from the mountain peak to Morcote, always with the best views of the Swiss and Savoy Alps. Three hours later, the destination is reached and hikers can return to Lugano by bus and boat.

In the middle of Lake Lucerne

From the Bürgenstock, an imposing rocky trail lasting one and a half hours leads you to breathtaking views of the fastest lift in Europe. Now, all that remains is to hop on, enjoy the ride and take in the panoramic views. The free-standing outdoor lift soars 152.8 metres into the air in just one minute, giving visitors the feeling of freedom. This hike with an aerial view can be reached by bus or boat from Lucerne.

Magnificent hike along five lakes

The mountain railway takes hikers in comfort up to the Blauherd upper station, situated at 2,500m above sea level. This is the starting point for the hiking trail to Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee and Leisee. The ​Matterhorn can be seen reflected in three of these mountain lakes. This two-and-a-half-hour hike ends at the Sunnegga, where you'll enjoy an easy ride down the mountain to Zermatt in the cable car.

Adventure trail in St. Gallen

From Alp Sellamatt at Alt St. Johann there are 25 different sound stations to discover. The musical path takes about two and a half hours, but you should allow nearly twice as much time to include breaks and sound experiments. You can reach Alp Sellamatt by chair lift and gondola starting at Alt St. Johann. This brings the hikers at the end of the tour back down to Wildhaus, where the PostBus is already waiting.

Hike with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau

From the ​Grütschalp cable car station (Bernese Oberland), a wide gravel path leads uphill to the edge of the forest. Immediately behind the impressive mountain forest, a panorama opens up over the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. After less than an hour, hikers finally reach Winteregg. From there, the Alpine path continues more or less parallel to the railway line to Mürren. For the 4.4 kilometre-long route, you only need to allow one hour and 15 minutes' walking time. The starting and ending points of the path are well connected to the public transport network.
