Rahul and Shweta met in New York City in March 2021 and took a walk along the river — it felt like we knew each other forever. Although we discovered we are quite different, we still fit perfectly together. We couldn’t explain it but felt it deeply. 3 months after we met we introduced our parents (my first time introducing a boy). With our parents blessings, Rahul surprised Shweta with a proposal in Central Park and had the most romantic set up. 

And then, a year later we said «let’s get married!»…in a very special way with our closest friends and family. We live together in New York City. Rahul is a surgeon and Shweta is the behavioral finance lead for a hedge fund.

We decided to do a wedding in Europe because it is half way between USA and India. (Rahul’s friends are from US and Shweta’s family is from India). We wanted a boutique luxury wedding and we also wanted to have an outdoor wedding with the natural beauty surrounding us.

We were planning it for March so it was going to be cold— we decided to embrace it and looked for upscale ski destination in Switzerland — a favourite destination of both our parents. Gstaad is a popular destination for Indian shoots and also has an Indian restaurant!

Gstaad, in particular the Alpina met all our expectations. Most of our vendors were local to Gstaad and the entire village came together to deliver the perfect wedding. We are so grateful to the staff at Alpina for helping us and creating such a wonderful memory!

All our guests loved Gstaad! They still talk about the wedding, 3 months later. My aunt who was visiting for the first time said ‘I feel like I made a trip to the heaven and back’. My dad thinks there is no point going anywhere else — he just loves the beautiful scenery in Switzerland. Those who couldn’t make it said they missed out.

We loved Emma’s work and thought it was different. It wasn’t  just a curated collection of events and people but a narration of what brought the couple together and why they are meant to be. Emma was great and she was very knowledgeable and can work easily with other people while ensuring the quality is top notch. Also Emma was so flexible and determined to help deliver a perfect result. We loved how she fought the crowd  to create the perfect set up for all our shots, were willing to work long hours to ensure nothing was left uncaptured.

Planning & catering: The Alpina Gstaad managed the wedding, stay and catering was supervised by their Michelin starred executive chef Martin Goschel. Chef Martin personally designed the menu and cooked for us on the wedding night.
