Astronomieabend mit Sonnenfinsternis
Overview
Total solar eclipse over Val Surses – a rare celestial spectacle
On 12 August 2026, we are in for an extraordinary natural show: an impressive partial solar eclipse. During this event, the Moon slowly moves in front of the Sun, covering it by about 92 % here – the Sun transforms into a narrow, glowing crescent in the evening sky.
The eclipse begins around 19:25, reaches its peak just after 20:15 and ends around 20:42. In the special atmosphere of dusk, a fascinating interplay of light, mountains and sky unfolds.
Observation with telescopes
For this special event, two powerful telescopes with 20 cm apertures and special solar filters are available. They allow you to follow the eclipse’s progress safely and impressively – including the moving silhouette of the Moon in front of the Sun.
Observation site
We will observe the event at one of the most beautiful vantage points in the region: Alp Flix – with a clear view over the Grisons mountain world and towards the western evening sky.
