History of the Mathod castle estate and its gardens

The Château de Mathod invites you to discover its ten thematic gardens, each offering a unique atmosphere:

• The Courtyard: French garden with symmetrical flowerbeds and gravelled paths.
• The English Garden: romantic space with sinuous lines, where nature expresses itself freely.
• The Andalusian Patio: interior courtyard inspired by the south of Spain, with orange trees, lemon trees and a central fountain.
• The Church Garden: peaceful corner adjacent to the church, ideal for meditation.
• The Japanese Garden: Zen space with pond, red bridge and Japanese maples.
• Le Parterre: restored enclosed garden, decorated with a central pond and flower beds.
• The French Vegetable Garden: ornamental vegetable garden with geometric flowerbeds and rose garden.
• The Apiary: space dedicated to beekeeping, producing tasty local honey.
• Les Allées: walks lined with bicentennial trees, offering shade and coolness.
• Le Verger Truffier: plantation of oak and hazelnut trees for the cultivation of black truffles.

This 1.5 hour visit ends with a gourmet break, where you will be offered a hot or refreshing drink.

To extend the experience, a small meal is offered on site (to be reserved 48 hours in advance), with a gourmet menu available on the castle's official website.
