As one of its kind across Switzerland, the Engelberg monastery show-dairy turns milk from the region into speciality cheeses within its ancient monastery walls. Visitors to the site are able to experience this successful architectonic contrast between the modern show-dairy and the ancient monastery walls.
The range from the Engelberg monastery show-dairy comprises speciality cheeses from the region as well as the dairy's own products. Besides the famous “Engelberger Klosterglocke” cheese, the comprehensive assortment ranges from goat’s and sheep’s cheese, through Alpine cheese and home-made yoghurts, to fresh whey. The show-dairy also sells souvenirs, gift items and whey cosmetics.
As well as offering groups, associations and companies entertaining and educational tours on various cheese-related topics.
Its cosy bistro is an inviting place to pass the time and serves homemade delights, with or without cheese.
The monastery market takes place every Saturday in the Engelberg monastery show-dairy shop. On sale are regional and seasonal products, such as fresh organic vegetables, meat from the farm butcher’s shop, bread, baked goods and speciality cheeses.
