On 28 & 29 August 2026, around 15,000 visitors will find their way to the "Musig i de Altstadt" festival or MidA for short, in Aarau.
Save the date!
Every year, the MidA stages stand for musical diversity: An (inter)national mix of discoveries and celebrated crowd favourites. Every concert is an immersive experience, whether in familiar or unexpected locations.
Stages can be found on the Schlossplatz, in the Market Hall, in the City Church, the Stadthöfli, in various Old Town pubs and outside in the Old Town alleys.
The concerts are free of charge, but purchasing a festival button (CHF 15.–) is a matter of honour.
Gastronomy
To provide audiences with a well-rounded, harmonious experience, there are various culinary highlights on the menu, including warm, local cuisine and various street food options. The Old Town’s charming locales, such as the HoBo Bar on Rathausgasse, invite you to take a relaxing break. This makes the festival evening a pleasure for all the senses.

The MidA isn’t the only reason to visit Aarau; the Old Town is also an ideal spot for sightseeing and shopping. Explore the historic alleys and uncover unique shops and local products. If you’re interested, you can join the public Old Town Tour on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., before the concerts, to discover even more of the city’s hidden corners.
