Senda Piz Clünas
Overview
Intro
This summit tour along the southern edge of the Silvretta Range and over Piz Clünas offers an impressive view of the mountain panorama of Lower Engadine. An enchanting rest stop awaits you during the descent at Alp Laret.
Description
The tour starts at the Prui mountain station, which you can reach by chairlift from Ftan. After a short stretch in the forest, the steep zigzag ascent begins above the tree line towards Piz Clünas. Along the way, you are surrounded by many mountain flowers. A glance backwards is also worthwhile: the view of the majestic peaks of the Lower Engadine Dolomites is impressive, including S-chalambert, Ajüz, Lischana, and San Jon, as well as the Pisoc group with Piz Pisoc. To the east, you can see the facilities of the winter sports area. The distinctive Piz Tschütta rises behind the saddle between Piz Nair and Champatsch.
Going over the summit, the path descends to the small, crystal-clear mountain lake Lai da Minschun. Either take a picnic break here, or continue westwards without stopping across Muot da l’Hom, following the signs to Alp Laret. Surrounded by cows and chickens, a pleasant opportunity for a longer rest awaits you here. The restaurant at Alp Laret is famous for its “Kaiserschmarrn” pancakes.
After this, the hike continues eastwards, with a crossing on the south slope on a gently descending path below Muot da l’Hom. Along the way, the superb Lower Engadine panorama unfolds in the direction you are walking, via Era dals Jals towards Boudas da Clünas. When you reach Prui, you can take the chairlift again to Ftan.
