Valünatal-Winterwanderweg
Overview
Intro
Leaving from the hamlet of Steg, the trail leads along a mountain river through an idyllic winter landscape with many pine trees up to the open meadows around the Alp Valüna hut.
Description
This winter hike in the Valünatal Valley begins at the car park near the Gänglesee lake. Hikers walk along the Saminabach river and through a landscape with many snow-covered trees and bushes towards Maiasäss, Brückle and finally up to Alp Valüna (mountain hut closed in winter). As they make their way along the banks of the river, they can admire the many mighty rocks protruding from the forest.
The difference in altitude between the starting point and the highest point at Alp Valüna is just 200 metres, making this hike ideal for children. There are no huts serving food, so it is a good idea to take something to eat with you. The meadows of Alp Valüna are the perfect place to enjoy a picnic looking with fine views into the valley.
After returning to the starting point next to the Gängle-Stausee reservoir, hikers who still have energy left can take the Schwemmiweg trail to the Alp Sücka hut (40 minutes) and sample the excellent fondue at this popular mountain eatery.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
