Introduction
Where the organ stops get their names ...
Where the organ stops get their names ... A journey of discovery into the realm of timbres of the Renaissance Long-forgotten instruments, such as the shawm, pommer, gemshorn, crumhorn, or dulcian, are playfully and commentarily brought back to life. The recorder – the popular wind instrument often unfairly discredited as a "beginner's instrument," yet with a simple expressiveness and astonishing agility that's hard to surpass – also originates from the time of excessive experimentation with timbres. In conjunction with the organ, which has carried these sounds in the form of so-called stops with their corresponding names into the here and now, the performers present a colorful-sounding bouquet of Renaissance flowers that continues to bloom all the way into the Baroque period! Markus Meier, recorder, shawm, pommer, gemshorn, crumhorn, or dulcian & Christina Zweimüller, organ
