Night of Traditional Irrigation
Overzicht
Inleiding
Experience the traditional irrigation of Valais meadows during a friendly evening with demonstrations, local food and an authentic atmosphere by the bisse.
Discover the traditional know-how of meadow irrigation during an authentic and welcoming evening in the heart of Valais.
Before modern sprinkler systems existed, Valais farmers irrigated their meadows using only the power of gravity. Water diverted from the main bisse was guided through small secondary channels to the fields, where it naturally spread across the land following the slope of the terrain. This traditional surface irrigation technique, both simple and ingenious, is still practiced today in some parts of Valais. For one special evening, immerse yourself in this living heritage and learn how water was diverted, how the land was read, and how the flow was carefully controlled. Surrounded by nature, local traditions and a friendly atmosphere, enjoy a unique cultural experience in the Valais mountains.
Programme:
• From 5:00 pm: Apéro at the bisse hut in Pertou
• Light refreshments – Cervelas party
• Traditional irrigation demonstrations at 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm
