YANNICK OUELLET: WATERCOLORS

Light and Its Colors
Originally from Quebec and a resident of Switzerland for the past 27 years, Yannick Ouellet has always nurtured a love of creativity. As the coordinator of a second-language school, he has long shared this passion with his students. Today, he channels this desire to explore, imagine, and express himself through watercolor painting.
Drawing has been a part of his life since childhood, but it was upon his arrival in Switzerland that he truly discovered watercolor. He then began experimenting with the play of light, shadows, and colors, with a particular affinity for intense and luminous hues.
Over the past four years, his practice has become more consistent, and his work has gradually moved away from a faithful representation of reality. Flowers, landscapes, abstract forms: his subjects change according to his whims and his perspective. Rather than simply reproducing what he sees, Yannick Ouellet seeks to offer a personal interpretation, where color is given free rein.
The transparency, layering, and sometimes unpredictable effects of watercolor fuel this pursuit of spontaneous, expressive, and generous painting.
With “Light and Its Colors,” Yannick Ouellet presents his second exhibition at Le MUR. It marks a new stage in his artistic journey and, above all, a wonderful opportunity to share his colorful, sensitive, and resolutely personal world with the public.
