Introdução
Bilingual Fribourg was founded by Berthold IV, Duke of Zähringen in 1157. This university town marks the setting-off point for a 97km loop featuring 970m of climbing through the hilly landscape of Canton Fribourg.

You encounter the steepest climb (difference in altitude: 200m) right at the beginning during a brief incursion into the Swiss-German-speaking part of the canton. The loop then takes you to Pont-la-Ville and Lake Gruyère, which you follow almost all the way to Broc.
Continuing on to Pringy, you see Gruyères castle before arriving in Bulle: located at the foot of the Prealps, this is the economic hub of the Gruyère region.
The highest point of the loop (alt. 840m) is a little further on as you leave Vaulruz. But do not be misled: although it is generally downhill from now on, there remain numerous short, sharp rises to tackle.
Taking a breaking in Romont would allow you to catch your breath. This picturesque little medieval town founded in 1240 is the country’s capital of stained glass and glass making. Perched on its hill, Romont looks back on a historical and immensely rich heritage.
Another 30km find you back in Fribourg, having completed a picturesque loop in the canton’s countryside.
