o-tour Bike West
Visão geral
Introdução
The Grosschlierental valley is known as the heart of the largest moor landscape in Switzerland, but it is also the basis for attractive mountain bike tours. The valley takes centre stage on the o-tour Bike West route.
Descrição
After a brief warm up on side roads between Alpnachstad and Sarnen, the ascent begins near the last houses. It is a total of 900 meters in altitude up to the first moor areas. You continue high above sparkling Lake Sarnen to the Langis mountain inn. This is the starting point of the long downhill run through the Grossschlierental valley, wild and charming at the same time. After Alp Horweli, there is another 200-meter ascent before you ride down the Kleinschlierental valley via Schrotenegg, in view of majestic Mount Pilatus. Time seems to have stood still here, but pleasantly so. Mountain inns are rare here, not to mention motorised traffic. It is difficult to imagine that the lively valley floor of Obwalden and the greater Lucerne area are just a stone’s throw away and that’s quite all right by us!
The following downhill ride to Alpnachstad is a mixture of mountain roads and easy single trails. Down in the valley, a side trip to the shores of Lake Alpnach is worth the effort and a perfect ending to the tour.
