On the multi-day circular hiking tour around the Dents du Midi, (2102 meters), on the western flank of the Col (Pass) that bears the same name, the crossing from Salvan (Susanfe Lake) to Val d'Illiez (Champéry).
The Swiss Alpine Club's hut is reached from Champery via the Pas d'Encel (fixed rope) in 3 1/2 hours, from Salvan/Marécottes the hike takes 5 to 6 hours, depending on the route. There are 72 dormitory beds, some now also with duvets.
