Schreckhorn (4,078m a.s.l.)
Hint
简介
As the name of this four-thousander suggests, the Schreckhorn is the Bernese Alps’ most challenging four-thousander (“Schrecken” is the German word for “terror”). Not many are actually scared off by it though – the mountain is climbed pretty regularly.
描述
A mountain of superlatives: the Schreckhorn is the northernmost four-thousander in Europe and the Bernese Alps’ most challenging four-thousander. But this doesn’t scare many mountain climbers off climbing the Schreckhorn ridge’s main summit – it is visited fairly often, in fact. The normal route starts at the Schreckhorn Hut and takes climbers across the southwest ridge. This snow-covered giant was first climbed in 1861 by Sir Leslie Stephen, Christian Michel, Peter Michel and Ulrich Kaufmann.
