Le Corbusier is considered one of the most influential architects, designers and design theoreticians of the 20th century. Born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, he studied architecture and moved to Paris, where he met, among others, industrial designer Peter Behrens. His concept of the house as a «machine for living» included functional furniture or «équipement de l’habitation».
Le Corbusier is seen as a key figure of the internationalization of architecture and urban planning, which has characterized the urban landscapes of the 20th century.
