Ein schillernder Saisonauftakt: Auf Kaija Saariahos «Asteroid Toutatis» folgt Johannes Brahms’ Akademische Festouvertüre. Robert Schumanns Cellokonzert erklingt mit Daniel Müller-Schott, einem der international profiliertesten Cellisten unserer Zeit. Schliesslich folgt auf Gustav Mahlers selten gespielte «Blumine» der erste Satz seiner berühmten «Auferstehungssinfonie».
