Leukerbad (or in French: Loèche-les-Bains) is a municipality in the southwest of Switzerland, in the canton of
Valais. The winter sports and wellness resort is a popular destination because of its altitude and its thermal springs.

Leukerbad offers you thermal baths and wonderful nature. You’ll experience this on a tour towards the
Dala Gorge. The water into which you will later immerse yourself bubbles out of the rock here. Further along the Dala is the idyllic Majingsee lake. The cable car will take you up to the
Torrenthorn or the
Gemmi Pass. Or you can head towards the Rhône Valley to discover the mountain villages of
Albinen and Inden with their wooden chalets as well as the pretty wine village of Varen.
The thermal baths of Leukerbad
The
Leukerbad Therme is the largest thermal baths in the Alpine region. In the
Valais Alpentherme and the
Therme51, you can also bathe in soothing thermal water, which is enriched with minerals deep in the mountain before it bubbles to the surface. After an active day, let yourself be pampered in the indoor and outdoor pools, in the Roman-Irish bath and in the sauna village.
Winter sports in Leukerbad
Leukerbad has a varied winter sports offering for you: around the Torrentalp and Rinderhütte, demanding skiers and snowboarders will be sure to get their money’s worth. The
Snowpark Sportarena offers families with children fun in the snow. The fast-paced toboggan runs “
Gemmiwind” and “Gemmiblitz” down to the Daubensee lake are truly exciting. There are also well-groomed winter hiking trails and a cross-country ski trail across the frozen Daubensee.

Leuk, situated below Leukerbad, is well worth the trip. Towers and vines characterise the silhouette of this pretty small town. The
castle, renovated by star architect Mario Botta, and its glass dome, is well worth seeing. From here, you have a view of the
Pfyn-Finges Nature Park, known for its winegrowing villages, its wetland landscape and the largest pine forest in the Alps.
