This sculpture is an early work by Melotti, dated to the period when he was a leading exponent of abstract art. Thanks to the juxtaposition between what is material and immaterial, the work is characterized by a sense of lightness, through which it reveals the contrast between the stiffness of the orthogonal lines and the flow of the vertical bands. The use of plaster, an opaque material, enhances the graphic and plastic value of the elements that make up the composition.
