Stroll through the streets of Martigny and discover the exhibition of flags created by Nelly Haliti from April 15, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
The Ville de Martigny, through Le Manoir, has invited artist Nelly Haliti to invest Martigny's public space with a series of flags on Avenue de la Gare and on the path leading to Château de la Bâtiaz.
Her ART AS LIFE series pays tribute to modern art with a resolutely contemporary approach. Working with the flag motif, she questions its symbolic function, exploring the tensions between pictoriality and urban or natural space. Her compositions evoke the formal explorations of the modern painters of the first half of the 20th century, creating new landscapes by cutting up oil-based wallpaper. Shapes, colors, rhythms and strata unfold like an autonomous, poetic language.
About the artist:
Born in 1987 in Martigny, Nelly Haliti holds a Master's degree in visual arts from the Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD). Oil painting forms the formal basis of her practice, integrating video in 16 mm format, installation, performance and photography, forming a "language in motion".
Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Centre d'art contemporain de Genève (2013), the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris (2016) and the Palais de l'Athénée in Geneva (2018), as well as numerous group shows in Switzerland and abroad. Winner of the Swiss Art Awards in 2018, she has also benefited from residencies at the Fondation suisse, Pavillon Le Corbusier in Paris (2015) and at the Swiss Institute in Rome (2016-17). Her work is part of the Musée d'art du Valais collection.
