Description
The Bächi Bike Tour is a varied trail that has a lot to offer, which is why renting a top-class e-bike at the sports store in Braunwald is not only practical, but also guarantees an enjoyable ride. Car-free Braunwald is situated on a slope, providing beautiful views of the surrounding mountains such as the Tödi, as well as some fairly steep uphill and downhill sections. These challenges can be overcome quickly and easily with an e-bike.
At the starting point in Linthal, the route begins on a paved road leading to Alp Fritern with gradients of up to 20%. A challenging ride on a gravel road takes you up to 1,599m above sea level, the highest point of the route. This is followed by a steep descent to Restaurant Nussbüel. From Nüssbüel to Braunwald, the trail continues through green forests and past old farmhouses, with views of the Ortstock and Tödi mountains.
The route leads through the scattered village of Braunwald to Braunwaldalp-Unterstafel, past blooming summer meadows and alpine herdsmen. At Bächialp you can quench your thirst and try a piece of fresh alpine cheese. Then it’s back onto the saddle for an exhilarating speedy descent down the steep, but well-maintained mountain road. Through the woods offering views of the valley floor, the trail continues on to Schwanden.
If you’re after a nice place to spend the night, look no further than Hotel Tödiblick, where an excellent restaurant and relaxing night’s sleep await. Its panoramic terrace affords an unobstructed view of the entire mountain vista. Restaurant Nussbüel serves the most delicious homemade Gugelhopf cake, which you can enjoy on the sunny terrace.
