Schlittelweg Rossweid
Overview
Intro
The sledge run Rossweid is a highlight in the Sörenberg winter sports area, especially for families with small children. At first, it is not that steep and promising. Then, it becomes faster and passes part of the ski slope through the unique biosphere area.
Description
The Rossweid ob Sörenberg belongs to the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch. In the cold season, the moorland area of national importance is transformed into a «winter sports paradise» – for sledging fans, among others. The starting point is easily reached by gondola and, after a short walk of about 5 minutes from the top station to the starting point of the sledge run.
This more direct, faster route leads along the ski slopes back to the valley station of the gondola. Shortly after the start, the sledge run dives into the light fir forest and then follows the edge of the forest for a while. In the upper half of the track, there are several, less steep sections. Yet, there is more to it than just disadvantages, such as enough time to enjoy the panorama with Brienzer Rothorn, Rossflue and Schafnase.
In the lower part of the track you can slide with your sledge properly and enjoy the fast ride. On the last section the sledge fan, you will share the slope with the skiers. Here, an adjustment of speed is necessary. The sledge run ends directly in front of the valley station of the Rossweid gondola.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
