Intro
Lausanne is a capital of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network (GWC), which encompasses ten major international cities. They share a significant economic and cultural asset: their world-famous wine region.
Wine is inextricably linked with the history of the canton of Vaud, which has four wine-growing regions. Two of them envelope Lausanne: the Lavaux vineyard terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and La Côte. Various grape varieties can be sampled in the cellars of winegrowers, in restaurants, or in one of the city’s many wine bars.
