Ober Gabelhorn (4,063m a.s.l.)
Hint
Intro
Although it has strong competition in the form of the neighbouring Matterhorn, for many people the Obel Gabelhorn with its uniform shape is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps. But it’s not just its outward appearance that makes it one of a kind, but its climb too.
Ober Gabelhorn (4,063m a.s.l.) at a glance
An elegant and symmetrical pyramid with high recognition value in the Valais Alps. For many people the Obel Gabelhorn is the most beautiful mountain in the Alps. To their disappointment, the snow-covered giant is often rather overshadowed by the nearby Matterhorn. The peak (4,063m a.s.l.) can be reached from Zermatt or from Zinal. The normal route leads from the Rothorn Hut over the Trift Glacier and the northeast ridge. But the Schönbiel Hut, the Arben Bivouac, the Grand Mountet Hut and the Berghaus Trift mountain inn and restaurant also serve as starting points for the climb.
