Around 30 kilometres of fun on the slopes await visitors of all ages in Braunwald. The ski area is known as a family destination and offers the ideal slopes and conditions for your first turns on skis or a snowboard at the children’s snow sports area in Hüttenberg and Grotzenbüel. Braunwald is also home to the Märchenhotel – one of the best family hotels in Switzerland, which makes family holidays a great adventure!
In Braunwald, you find yourself “high above the daily grind”. This starts with the journey there, since car-free Braunwald is situated in the southern region of the Glarnerland. The mountain village with a ski area can be reached in just seven minutes with the Braunwald funicular.
The small but wonderful ski area focuses on families and is known for its varied and clearly arranged slopes. The children’s snow sports area in Hüttenberg, right next to the Swiss Snow Sports School Braunwald, as well as the children’s snow sports area in Grotzenbüel, the centre of the ski area, allow your little ones to ski and learn on an ideal practice slope.
Those who prefer to whizz down on runners will enjoy the three-kilometre toboggan run from Grotzenbüel to Hüttenberg.
A special highlight for families can be found in the village of Braunwald: the Märchenhotel. This is a place where fairytales come true, and where the littlest ones are the greatest. You certainly won’t run out of things to marvel at here. The Märchenhotel is one of the best family hotels in Switzerland.
Braunwald is closer than you think: just take the direct S25 line from Zurich main station to the Linthal-Braunwaldbahn, and from there it’s a seven-minute funicular ride to car-free Braunwald.
