Long ago, the Palü glacier created an extraordinary natural formation here.
The glacier garden of Cavaglia is also called "pots of giants". An impressive natural phenomenon at the foot of the Bernina range with Piz Palü towering in the background.
Over the course of thousands of years rotating stones have gouged their way into rock here because of the constant pressure of pre-historic glacial water. This is how the up to 15-metre-deep glacial mills were formed. It is easy to get there from the Cavaglia station of the Rhaetian Railway (400 m).
This natural phenomenon is an excellent adventure for families. Guided tours are available from June to October.
