Intro
On the former country estate of the Chaplin family, "Manoir de Ban" in Corsier-sur-Vevey, a whole new world around the man with the bowler hat has been opened. And it’s here in the manor house with huge park that visitors learn of his private life while in the new building focus is on Chaplin’s artistic works.
One could well proclaim that movies such as "Limelight", "The Great Dictator" or "Modern Times" form the cultural canon of the 20th century. Equally as famous is the protagonist Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin. The London-born comedian spent the last 25 years of his life on the sunny plateau above Vevey.
As of spring 2016 his "Manoir de Ban" estate is open to the public. The mansion and the 14-hectare park with unobstructed views of the Lac Léman provide insight into everyday life of the Chaplins. And in the newly built exhibition hall, the artistic creations of the director and actor staged with most modern museum didactic in the form of original film decors, a section room and a multi-media theater are the makings of a highly entertaining Charlie Chaplin experience.
Venue
Chaplin's World, an emblematic cultural player in the Riviera region, wakes up at nightfall to welcome friends, partners, or employees to experience a unique moment in an exceptional place animated by the aura of a legendary artist. For private events, the Studio and its Cinema, offers more than 1,350m2 of Hollywood universe where laughter rubs shoulders with emotions on the sets of classic films. The Manor, and its Peristyle, offers a prestigious setting and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, in a site officially recognized as cultural property of national importance. Finally, the magnificent Park can host grandiose events at the height of the most beautiful ideas!
