What to experience
Ride on the Bernina Railway over the circular viaduct
Climb in St. Moritz or Tirano on the Bernina Railway and drive over the district viaduct. From the train, you can see the tracks intersect below you as the train passes through the loop. On the drive south, the view of the Poschiavo with the Lago di Poschiavo opens up to you.

- Tip: Reserve seats on the Bernina Express online in good time.
Viaduct Walking Tour (30-40 minutes)
From Brusio station, a circular path leads down to the viaduct. The path runs along the tracks and past the Crotti, round stone buildings that used to serve as cold storage rooms. At the viaduct you will photograph the train up close. On the way back through the village centre, you will pass by Casa Besta, a 17th-century palazzo.
- Good to know: The circular route is well signposted.
- Tip: Check the timetable and take the photo position in time.
Cavaglia Glacier Garden (1–2 hours)
A few train stations north of Brusio is the Cavaglia Glacier Garden. The circular route leads to 21 glacier mills that the Palü Glacier has carved into the rock over thousands of years. The deepest of these "pots of giants" reach up to 14 meters into the ground.
- Good to know: The Glacier Garden is accessible from May to October.
- Tip: Admission is free, guided tours can be booked.
