Cross-country skiing paradise in Valais.
Overview
Intro
This secluded high valley in the Goms region is sure to please, with its top-class cross-country skiing infrastructure and a network of superlative trails covering over 100 kilometres. But size is not all it has up its sleeve.
What makes the Goms cross-country trail so special is that it connects 12 picturesque villages from Oberwald to Niederwald. The Matterhorn Gotthard train (MGB) stops at practically every village along the way. This is extremely popular with cross-country skiers. If the mood takes you, you can complete part of the route while sitting comfortably, enjoying the views of the chalets flashing past or of the majestic mountains. Most importantly, the narrow-gauge railway will bring you back to your starting point at any time. The train fare is always included in the price of the cross-country ski pass.
In addition, the Ulrichen Nordic Centre has everything that cross-country skiers could wish for: changing and recreation facilities, ski hire, cross-country skiing lessons, etc. On top of that, the obstacles in the fun park offer an ideal opportunity to practise and improve your balance on the narrow skis.
