The idea came quickly. But so did the question: Would two of the most in-demand musicians on the Swiss scene even have the time and inclination to embark on this adventure?

Adrian Stern picked up the phone.

Massimo Buonanno, a beat machine, virtuoso, and one of the country’s busiest drummers, was on board immediately. So was Marco Blöchlinger, whose groovy yet incredibly song-oriented bass playing helped shape the sound of KUNZ for many years.

Shortly thereafter, the three of them were together in the rehearsal room. Without a grand plan, but with plenty of curiosity about what might emerge. It became clear after just a short time: there was more at work here than just musical craftsmanship. Ideas flew back and forth, songs developed almost on their own, and individual rehearsals soon turned into regular sessions.

Adrian wrote new pieces, and the trio arranged, experimented, and continued to develop them. The first days in the studio followed soon after. What had begun as a spontaneous musical encounter gradually evolved into material for an entire album.

In the spring of 2027, Adrian Stern’s new album, TRIO, will be released. The foundation was recorded live together and then further developed with additional ideas, sounds, and overdubs. The result is neither a nostalgic retrospective nor a purist trio experiment, but rather a unique production that has grown out of the energy and joy of playing of this lineup.

The first single, “isbluemestilli,” has already been released. Following the start of advance ticket sales for the tour, the next release will be “Rätsel.” Additional songs will be released leading up to the album’s release.

The first concerts have already shown just how much power this lineup possesses. On the TRIO TOUR 2027, Adrian Stern, Massimo Buonanno, and Marco Blöchlinger are now bringing this energy to club stages. In their set: new songs from the album TRIO, well-known Stern classics, and a few hidden favorites that the trio has rediscovered, taken apart, and put back together.
