Alberto Giacometti
Overview
Intro
An artist of the century at the Kunsthaus
Alberto Giacometti's work is being presented anew in an inaugural exhibition in the Chipperfield Building of the Kunsthaus Zürich. The focus is on major works from the Surrealist phase as well as the world-famous sculptures from the period after 1945, in which Giacometti developed an unmistakable artistic language. Particular emphasis is placed on the surrealist key work "L'Objet invisible" (1934/35), which is being shown for the first time in a newly produced bronze cast. The presentation is designed as the beginning of a larger project and will be newly curated, significantly expanded and unfold Giacometti's entire artistic oeuvre - from his early works to his late work - in four consecutive rooms from fall 2026.
