Extra concert – Solomon’s Knot: Christmas Oratorio

Event Riehen

Overview

Intro

Solomon’s Knot performs Bach’s Christmas Oratorio without sheet music or a conductor, resulting in a spontaneous, chamber-music-style performance.

Solomon’s Knot, vocal ensemble

Jonathan Sells, artistic director

Zoë Broodshaw & Clare Lloyd-Griffiths, soprano

Kate Symonds-Joy & James Laing, alto

Thomas Herford & David de Winter, tenor

Alex Ashworth & Jonathan Sells, bass

This is what Bach sounds like in 2026! The eight singers of the London-based ensemble Solomon’s Knot, who are both soloists and choir, perform the Christmas Oratorio without sheet music or a conductor. This allows for a spontaneity and chamber-music immediacy that will captivate any audience.

J.S. Bach: Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 (Parts I, III, V, VI)
