Intro

Messiaen im Kunstmuseum - Quatuor pour la fin du temps

Olivier Messiaens Quatuor pour la fin du temps entstand 1940/41 im deutschen Kriegsgefangenenlager Stalag VIII-A bei Görlitz. Messiaen schrieb das Werk für drei mit ihm inhaftierte Berufsmusiker – den Klarinettisten Henri Akoka, den Geiger Jean Le Boulaire und den Cellisten Étienne Pasquier – sowie für sich selbst am Klavier. Die Uraufführung fand am 15. Januar 1941 im Lager statt, vor Mitgefangenen und Wachpersonal.
