Intro

Shamiran Istifan erforscht in ihren installativen Werken die Komplexität des sozialen Zusammenlebens.

Shamiran Istifans Arbeiten entwickeln sich aus Fragmenten von Erinnerung und Gegenwart. Aus persönlichen Prägungen heraus arbeitet sie mit Bildern und visuellen Codes, die sie zu neuen Konstellationen verdichtet. Ihre Installationen, Skulpturen und textilen Arbeiten verschieben dabei den Blick auf soziale und strukturelle Zusammenhänge. Oft verwendet die Künstlerin Bildwelten des Alltags oder Referenzen aus Popkultur und Social Media, die sie in neue, teils sakral konnotierte Bedeutungen überführt.

In Baden geboren, wuchs sie in einer diasporischen Lebensrealität auf, die von einer Minderheitenperspektive geprägt war. In ihren neuen Arbeiten wird der Aargau zum Resonanzraum: Objekte wie Pflastersteine oder Briefkästen – als Übergang zwischen Privatraum und Öffentlichkeit – treffen auf die Ästhetik der Kosmetikindustrie und Motive der Teenage-Kultur. Es entsteht eine vielschichtige Konstellation von Bildern, Materialien und Symbolen, in denen unterschiedliche Lebenswelten parallel existieren.

Shamiran Istifan (*1987) ist Trägerin des Manor Kunstpreises Aarau 2026, der alle zwei Jahre zur Förderung junger Schweizer Kunst vergeben wird.
