Intro

"Remember, Icogne". An open-air exhibition to rediscover the thousand-year history of Icogne through 9 panels and historical accounts.

In 2026, the Commune of Icogne honours its past. It has commissioned historian Martin Bagnoud to create a temporary exhibition on its history, which will be on display in the village streets from May 3, 2026 to October 31, 2026.

"Souviens-toi, Icogne" invites the local population and visitors to rediscover Icogne, through 9 panels particularly representative of its thousand-year-old history and several historical testimonies (to be discovered on the commune's website).

Starting from the chapel, the exhibition route forms a fifteen-minute walking loop.

As well as looking back at the destiny of a mountain village, the exhibition questions the constitution of memory, shaped by individual and collective memories. It underlines the need to give a voice to themes that have been left aside, such as the environment or the washerwomen. Illustrated with photographs and archival documents, it showcases the commune's heritage and gives shape to its territory, through the whispers of those who lived there.
