Every year during Advent, the city of St.Gallen is transformed into a sea of almost 700 stars. They twinkle and dance in a light choreography specially created for the Swiss City of Stars and bathe St.Gallen's old town and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Abbey District in a magical light. The specially decorated Christmas fir tree on Klosterplatz, in the middle of the Abbey District, gives the Star City an additional festive Christmas glow.

As places of silence and contemplation, the cathedral and St. Lawrence Church offer peaceful oases of calm in the middle of the old town.
